Mico Media Mobile Application

The Mico University College is a popular tertiary institution located in Kingston, Jamaica. The university has been in operation since 1836 and has been the brand of Teacher training intuition for as long. In this project we tackle the MicoMail system, and email system used by administrative, university officials and students alike to communicate and share important information around the college.

We chose to design an alternative mobile application called MicoMedia as a social media alternative to the current MicoMail system, as the current system is unreliable and inconsistent. This current system is frustrating to users; Students and Administrative alike.
This application organizes the main features of both MicoMail and WhatsApp Chat to be the most efficient and effective way to communicate throughout the school. The combination is not only simple for ease of use, it’s also helps users, mostly students, have easier access to communication with Administrative without having the current barriers.
Challanges
On the journey to completing this project, one of our biggest issues involved producing an accurate, functioning mobile application prototype. This was our first-time tackling social media app, one that require a lot of nuances and understanding to operate. As we are more familiar with website development, programming for a mobile app was more difficult but eventually we complete something more than a prototype but a fully functional application.
Goals
Our goal with this project was to create an application that combined the systems of MicoMail and WhatsApp into a single application. As in the current set up, one would need a school email and WhatsApp account to communicate in class and around campus. We aimed to keep the application as similar and close to functioning the same way individuals of the school would use either resources separate and combine it into one social Media application.
Here the user will see all the post of everyone using the application. Unlike other social media application, MicoMedia is a connected application tied to the school’s members. Here staff and students can post events and quarries in an attractively stylize and familiar manner.
Features
A user’s profile contains the necessary information one may need to get in contact with a user outside of the application. This includes, Name, MicoEmail and Telephone number; adding a Student ID number and About section for more personality.
Here you will be able to see all the people you’ve send private messages to, and the groups you have joined.
The users section contains all the profiles of all the current members of the application. This process is similar to a Google email suit, making it easier to get in contact with others.
The functionality allows students, lectures and other personals to create, manage and communicate via groups. They can create and have others join a group, each publicly created group is seen and available to join, once confirmed by a group lead.
